It's been two weeks since the ground I was standing on was shaking. Today the ground has opened, and I feel like I'm falling into a bottomless pit. Painful, angry, sad, broken. What did we not do to be last on a list that no one wants to subscribe to?
There have been some prayers in me that no parent will stand this inconceivable test. There have been some prayers in me that no child should suffer in a place that is supposed to be the happiest. How much pain there is inside me. How can this pain be expressed in words? How can tears be converted into words? Looking at these sweet children sitting frightened, loving these monsters in their pure way, and breaking down.

Watching the videos shattered the little innocence that still remained in me, believing that such evil could not exist. This year it was me, sitting in an interrogation room with my husband and watching the horror videos that were projected in the projector where Carmel had ever hit my boys. Every video I saw shattered my heart more and more. Every look of terror, falling, tying, slapping, slapping, every pain they went through there pierced my body. This pain is still here.
