The Maradona clan received the painful news on Wednesday that Raúl Machuca , Rita "Kity" Maradona's husband and Diego's brother-in-law, died as a result of the coronavirus. Chino Maradona's father had been hospitalized in serious condition for a few days, when Kity's positive was also known.

As confirmed by Clarín , Machuca had been hospitalized for 20 days at the La Torre de Vicente López sanatorium. His son had told on the program Implacables (Channel 9) that at first he had been diagnosed with pneumonia.

“The swab was not done properly and they gave him a week of antibiotics. Obviously, it got complicated later, ”remarked Walter Christian Machuca, better known as Chino Maradona.

Asked about how he would have been infected, he assured that his father, who was 77 years old, did not move from his house during the quarantine and it was Kity who went out to do the shopping until his diagnosis was also positive. "So I imagine that the contagion will have come from some product that my mother brought from the street," he said.

Clarín had reported on Saturday that Kity Maradona was asymptomatic but underwent the test because her husband had tested positive for COVID-19 and was hospitalized.

This Tuesday, meanwhile, Diego Maradona, who was not in contact with them, took the test according to the requirements imposed by the AFA for the return to training of the First Division teams. The Gymnastics coach was swabbed by Dr. Leopoldo Luque, Diez's personal doctor, and José Flavio "Pepe" Tunessi, Lobo's doctor, in his new home in the Campos de Roca country (Brandsen). At night it was confirmed that it tested negative.

Despite this, the doctors insist that Maradona remain at home and not be there during the first days of work at the Abasto property. "It is not convenient for him to go at this time of high circulation of the virus. We must avoid contagion taking into account that he may be a risk patient due to his age and background," said Luque, who also gave details of Pelusa's health.

"During a stage of his quarantine he had problems with alcohol and was drinking more, but that was corrected and now he is very well: he lost 10 kilos, I see him better and better and he is enthusiastic about training. We set goals and he is overcome Diego is on an exponential improvement curve, "he added.
