The Lebanese President, General Michel Aoun, announced that the initial estimates of the losses suffered by Lebanon as a result of the explosion in Beirut Port exceed $ 15 billion, in addition to other material losses.
Aoun pointed out, during a phone call today with the King of Spain, Felipe VI, to the existence of damage in the port and the need for building materials to rebuild the neighborhoods affected by the bombing.
In turn, Felipe VI expressed the solidarity of Spain, the people and the government, with the Lebanese people for the victims of the bombing, stressing his country's readiness to provide aid to Lebanon to contribute to addressing the repercussions of the bombing.
In addition, Aoun said during his meeting with Federal Foreign Minister Heiko Joseph Maas that Lebanon is proceeding with the necessary reforms, combating corruption and criminal investigations in several institutions to reveal the reasons that led to the decline of the state's financial capabilities.
