The Department of Defense and the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) successfully conducted an interception test of the Arrow weapon system with an "Arrow 2" interceptor last night (Thursday). During the experiment, the weapon system successfully intercepted a target missile from the Anchor family, simulating a long-range surface-to-surface missile with a warhead. This is in accordance with the plan and the goals of the experiment.

The Ministry of Defense said that the experiment began at 11:45 PM and was carried out from an experimental field in the center of the country led by IAI. "As part of the experiment, the improved ability of the Arrow weapon system, which is currently in operational service in the Air Force, has been proven to deal effectively with existing and future threats to the State of Israel," the statement said.
The interception was carried out by Air Force Air Defense fighters, along with key industry engineers. All missile defense systems participated in the experiment, as part of the deployment and readiness of the operational array.

This is an experiment in the field of flight of the Arrow 2 interceptor in accordance with the planning and graph of the experiments of a wall manager in the Ministry of Defense. The purpose of the experiment is to examine a number of changes and improvements in the interceptor in particular and in the system as a whole. Every few years, experiments are carried out to upgrade and improve the air defense system against missiles in accordance with the development of Israel's enemies' capabilities.

The Arrow 2 system, developed with American companies, has been in the service of the Israeli Air Force since 2000 and is a protective layer above the Iron Dome, the Magic Wand, and the Patriot, and below the "Arrow 3" system.

Representatives from the US MDA and the industries involved in the development of the weapons system participated in the experiment: IAI is the main contractor for the development of the weapons system and the "arrow interceptors", through the MLM plant and Elta - which is responsible for developing and manufacturing the radar detection system. Elbit Systems is responsible for developing the shooting management system. Tomer, the government company for rocket propulsion systems, is responsible for the development and production of arrow engines. Raphael is responsible for the development and production of the target missile and other parts of the Arrow weapon system. BOEING is a partner in the aerospace industry in the production of "Arrow 2".

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz was updated on the success of the experiment. "Israel faces far and near challenges and our technology patrol, led by Mapat, IAI and the defense industries, ensures that we will always be one step ahead of our enemies and defend the State of Israel from any threat," Ganz said. "The joint experiment with the United States "Expresses the friendship and partnership between the two countries and the deep commitment of the United States to the security of the citizens of Israel. We will continue to work together to strengthen the capabilities of the security system - in the air, at sea, on land and in cyberspace."
