She was famous despite her low profile, thanks to all the times that Tato Bores, her husband, pronounced her name: Berta. Mother of Alejandro Borensztein, Sebastián Borensztein and Marina Borensztein, Berta died at the age of 88.

"He lived a full life," said his son Alejandro, writer, architect and Clarín columnist . "He only had a few health episodes in the last few months that got complicated and finally he left."

Berta Szpindler was born in Buenos Aires on September 17, 1931. At 23 she married Mauricio Borensztein, who was six years older. With time he would become one of the most important comedians and stand-up comedians in Argentina, famous as Tato Bores.

Berta and Tato met at Tato's brother's business, on Córdoba Avenue, where Berta worked as an employee. There Mauricio saw her one day and they never separated again. They both came from Polish Jewish families. In addition to the three children, they had five grandchildren and spent 54 years together until Tato died in 1996.

"For my old man, she was the most important thing in his life. Many times he put off work issues because he was with her," says Alejandro. On the other hand, she chose to accompany him in his career, which he helped build and sustain over several decades.

"She left everything to be with him and she really enjoyed his achievements and also the paths that each one of her children chose," says Alejandro. Sebastián is a film and TV director and Marina was an actress and a writer.

Low-profile, Tato constantly named Berta, on his shows, in his monologues, in interviews. And just once, his wife appeared on television, toasting the entire cast at the end of one of their cycles. However, they went to many theatrical premieres together, to the movies and had no problem showing themselves for photos.

"She really enjoyed doing social life, going to the theater, to the movies. In the middle, all the actors and actresses adored her, she was always present. But she left the place of famous to my father," says her son.

Berta and Tatao, an immense love.

Very independent, Berta lived alone, in the company of a woman who, in recent months, helped her with some tasks, when her health deteriorated. "Until December she was traveling, making the life of a woman ten years younger. She always handled herself that way," says Borensztein. "Luckily, she had a happy life and so we will remember her."
