Many questions are currently open: What does such a test center look like, is an external service provider hired? Where should it be set up, for how long, should only symptom-free holiday returnees be tested there? Scharf and above all Dr. Karin Kübler, head of the local health department, as soon as possible. "Because it should certainly not be the case that every district cooks its own soup," comments Scharf. "There will have to be a common path."
One thing is already certain for the spokesman for the authorities: There cannot be a test center operated purely from the ranks of the health department. “We can't just do that with our own staff, even if we are withdrawing employees from other departments.” In the meantime, after the peak phase subsided in spring, capacities have been significantly reduced again. “The district offices should also perform their actual tasks again. And ultimately, medically trained staff is needed to make cuts, I can't put everyone in there. ”It only helps to a limited extent that the Free State has basically approved new positions for the office. “To do this, you first have to find suitable staff,” notes Scharf. Only on Monday did a large round of introductions take place in the facility on Partnachstrasse. "It's all still very acute."
The health department, for example, is no longer quite as well positioned in terms of contact tracking. At times there are 20 employees there, who, according to Scharf, have been deleted. Now the authority got five new ones again. But always means additional work: “They have to be taught in again every time. Now for the third time. "
The question of who runs the center is still open. "Up until now, the BRK had done this on a voluntary basis at Wittelsbacher Park," recalls Scharf. "I doubt that the Red Cross can do that again on a voluntary basis." Offers from external service providers have already been received by the district office. So there are providers. “Just who pays for the costs?” That basically applies to every case. Should patients with symptoms again be smeared in the permanent facility? Then maybe a family doctor would have to be part of the party again to enable billing with the health insurance companies. And last but not least, it's also about location. The bumpy area at Wittelsbacher Park is not an ideal solution for a permanent facility. “There are mind games, but nothing concrete either.” As for the entire project.
