This includes, among other things, the expansion of the accessibility for the disabled.

He also pointed out that the toilets in the basement of the hall had to be made accessible for disabled people. The fire protection measures for the Budriohalle, built in 1987, include a fire-proof coating of the metal elements.
The council meeting did not go into too much detail. It was intended as the first presentation of the basic ideas, said Troltsch, head of the building authority. Therefore, when asked, he did not provide any information on the extent to which the maximum number of visitors currently set to 199 could be expanded.
Two years ago, during a similar discussion, Mayor Peter Münster (FDP) had already imagined that the capacity could be expanded to up to 500. In some games, such as in 2016 against Bundesliga club Reinickendorfer Füchse, the ESV had received special approval.
In addition, the hall floor needs to be renewed after 30 years. The shading of the hall against solar radiation must also be addressed. This has been solved provisionally with foils, but meets the minimum requirements for sports.
The expansion plans for the Budriohalle also came about because the community center as an event location is similar in number to the Budriohalle, even without Corona rules. At events with a high level of public interest, you reach your limits. In addition to the 24 councilors, the mayor and the administration, only ten listeners are currently allowed at municipal council meetings, which also take place in the community center due to Corona.
