The Democratic candidate for Vice President of the United States, Camela Harris, made her debut tonight (Thursday) in the role of Vice Presidential candidate Joe Biden. She criticized the mismanagement of President Donald Trump in the Corona plague and made an overwhelming claim to Biden's campaign.

The U.S. senator from California has already openly attacked President Trump, saying he is endangering Americans by not taking the epidemic seriously, leading the country into an economic crisis while fighting racism.

"America is crying out for leadership, and yet we have a president who cares more about himself than the people who elected him, a president who makes every challenge we face even harder to solve," Harris said.

Harris, Biden declared in high school in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, is "smart, she's tough, she's experienced, she's a proven fighter for the backbone of this state."

Biden, while presenting it, said he made the "right choice" that he chose to include Harris in his campaign. "I have no doubt that I have chosen the right person to join me as the next Vice President of the United States, and that is Senator Kamela Harris," said Biden who was by Harris' side. "She is ready to do this work on the first day. We are both ready to start working on building this nation," he added.

The incident took place in Biden's hometown, on the third anniversary of a 'right-wing' demonstration in Charlottesville, Virginia, where violent clashes erupted as allegations of white supremacy and neo-Nazism in the town.

Biden said Trump's remarks after the clashes, which he said were "very good people on both sides" and drew widespread criticism, persuaded him to run for office.

The joint appearance came just days before Biden would officially accept the nomination as the Democratic presidential candidate at next week's party conference, which will take place mostly as a virtual event due to the corona.

The Republican convention, in which Trump is set to run for a second term, will take place a week later and will open a 10-week term for the November 3 election.

Harris, 55, was announced as Biden's choice last Tuesday after an election process that led to further scrutiny due to Biden's age. The 77-year-old former vice president will be the oldest president ever if he wins, raising the possibility that he will not seek re-election in 2024.

Harris was born into a family of educated immigrants from India and Jamaica. She is young, black and Asian and is supposed to bring these groups to the polls. She is the first black and the first Asian American to be elected as a candidate for such a position in one of the major parties.

In recent months, unrest has passed over many cities in the country following the killing of George Floyd last May. Harris has become a prominent voice calling for change. She marched alongside protesters and pushed legislation to reform policing practices.

A crowd of about 75 people gathered outside in light rain before the event to get a glimpse of Biden and Harris, holding signs and taking pictures. Most were supporters and some called Harris' name, although some were opposed to Biden.

In choosing Harris, Biden chose a former rival for the candidacy whose most memorable campaign moment came during a televised debate when she criticized his past position regarding the school-integration bus. Harris, on the other hand, was considered a relatively safe choice. She is running more dynamically than Biden and she will be able to help bring in the votes of black voters.
