Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, announced today his country's readiness to cooperate with all countries in developing drugs to treat Covid 19 disease caused by the Coronavirus.
"Russia completed the formal registration procedures for the first vaccine against (Covid 19) in the world yesterday," Nebenzia said in a speech delivered during a session of the United Nations Security Council held via video link, noting that clinical tests have shown its effectiveness and safety.
Nebenzia added, "We are open to international cooperation with all concerned parties in developing and implementing vaccines and medicines to ensure a coordinated response to the pandemic and overcome it," noting that there are "several promising vaccines that are currently being prepared for clinical tests."
And Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko confirmed earlier today that the production of the first quantity of the Russian "Sputnik V" vaccine against the Corona virus will be ready within two weeks.
