A national tribute to Eric Monroy, a police officer who died during an intervention on the night of August 5 to 6, will be paid this Wednesday August 12 at 11 a.m. in Le Mans. The Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin and the Minister Delegate in charge of Citizenship Malrène Schiappa will be present at the city police station to follow the ceremony. The 43-year-old father of three will then be buried near Alençon in the afternoon.

During a road check, this agent of the night brigade of the Le Mans police force, had been struck by the vehicle of a driver who was trying to flee. The police intervened after a call from the firefighters who had informed them of a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road whose driver had dozed off inside.
The 26-year-old motorist, already known to the police, was indicted and detained for " willful violence resulting in death without the intention of giving it to a person responsible for the Public Authority and CEA (Conduite under the influence of an alcoholic state) in recidivism ”.
