Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed during a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron the necessity of resolving Lebanon's problems without external interference.
Russia Today quoted the Kremlin as saying in a statement today that the two presidents reviewed during the phone call the latest developments in Lebanon and the way to provide humanitarian support to the Lebanese people in light of the devastating explosion that rocked the port of the capital Beirut on the fourth of this month.
Putin affirmed Russia's position in support of Lebanon's unity and sovereignty, stressing the need to settle all contentious issues in it by the Lebanese themselves on the basis of constructive dialogue without any external interference.
Many international issues were discussed during this contact, including those related to Ukraine, where Putin reiterated the need for the Ukrainian government to strictly adhere to its political responsibilities according to the Minsk agreements.
