The head of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf, affirmed his country's continued support for the Syrian government and people.
IRNA reported that Qalibaf drew in a congratulatory cable sent to Parliament Speaker Hammouda Sabbagh on his re-election to the important role of the Iranian and Syrian parliaments in the context of developing and strengthening economic relations between the two countries.
Qalibaf said, "I am sure that the coming period is similar to previous periods and in light of your knowledge and cooperation of the people's representatives in both countries, our relations will witness more and more strategic ties in various bilateral, regional and international fields."
