The renovation of the dilapidated and leaky flat roof of the Kraillinger school gym is more expensive than expected for the community. In the meantime 250,000 euros are to be made available for this.
Krailling - The fact that the tin roof of the Kraillinger school gymnasium is leaky has long been shown by puddles on the hall floor. Patching things up, i.e. sealing with liquid plastic, is no longer enough, as construction authority director Sebastian Beel had emphasized in the last municipal council meeting before the summer break. But the damage in the roof area is far greater than assumed at the time. This resulted in an on-site inspection.
Insulation has decreased as a result of the wetness
Upon entering the roof structure, it became apparent that the insulation of the flat roof had also suffered severely from the moisture. This has become difficult due to the wetness and has sunk. You are now hanging in several places in the protective film, Beel reported on Tuesday to the members of the holiday committee. In addition, massive damage was found on the zinc roof again. As a result, the municipality has to spend more money on the renovation. So far, the costs, for example for a complete new covering with aluminum, have been estimated at around 125,000 euros. In the meantime one assumes an amount up to twice the sum. There is no alternative to the renovation of the roof, said Mathias Walterspiel (CSU). It would take years before there was a better solution with the completely renovated primary school.
The expert should act as soon as possible
The holiday committee unanimously agreed that an expert specializing in roofs should examine the gymnasium as soon as possible and draw up a renovation concept. This should be done in coordination with the planners for the general renovation of the primary school. It is not planned that extensive measures will be taken this year. The new mending is borderline, said Beel, but he still hopes to get through the winter safely. The hall is not in danger of collapsing. For the renovation, 250,000 euros are to be made available in the 2021 budget, based on a decision by the holiday committee.
So far, the community has been able to save money at another leak - the roof of the town hall. As reported, water damage was found in the mayor's room. Of the 350,000 euros stabled for the renovation, only 2000 euros have so far been spent on preliminary explorations, it said at the meeting. It is possible that extensive measures in the originally expected amount are not necessary, said 2nd Mayor Ricarda Weimar.
