By the end of the year there should be a flood protection concept for the Strogen in Langenpreising. After an inspection of the bank with representatives of the water management office, Mayor Josef Straßer reported to the local council. It was also about the areas that need to be dredged.
Langenpreising - As reported, Strasser's predecessor Peter Deimel had already vigorously clamped down on something happening. Deimel was particularly concerned with flood protection after the new bridge on Plattachmühlstrasse was built. Now things are finally getting underway. The areas in which bank reinforcement would be required would also be addressed, said Straßer. The embankments are the responsibility of the community. There he could imagine grazing with sheep, whereby it must be ensured that they do not end up in the water. Straßer was already active and spoke to a shepherd. The local council reacted enthusiastically to the idea.
In fact, bridge construction is also getting underway. As reported yesterday, the Plattachmühlstraße will be closed in the last week of August. The approach taken by the municipality in terms of tendering modalities has paid off: a good 770,000 euros was now the cheapest offer. In April 2018, Deimel pulled the ripcord because the cheapest offer was over 930,000 euros and thus so blatantly above the cost estimate of almost 530,000 euros that the tender had to be canceled.
As a precautionary measure, one million euros had been added to the budget for 2020 after these experiences. The municipality can also expect subsidies from the Free State of Bavaria for the construction project, but no final figures are yet available.
