(CNN Spanish) - The elections in Puerto Rico add a new controversy. This Wednesday, the island's Supreme Court halted the disclosure of the results of the 36 precincts where the voters of the Popular Democratic Party (PPD) voted in the primaries that began on Sunday, and which had to be suspended.

The court's order comes after the president of the PPD, Aníbal José Torres, announced the decision to present preliminary results for his party, after some unofficial results were made public.

The determination occurs at a time when the high judicial forum has before its consideration several legal resources regarding the paralysis of the electoral event, ordered by the State Elections Commission (CEE) after the electoral ballots did not reach the majority of the centers voting country.

The Supreme Court accepted all the cases on the paralysis of the primaries and will have to pronounce in the next days.

For its part, the State Elections Commission determined that the primary elections process should continue next Sunday, August 16.
