Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced today his country's intention to respond to any provocation in the Eastern Mediterranean.
"In response to Turkey's deployment of its fleet in the region, Greece has also deployed its fleet there and put the armed forces on alert," Agence France-Presse quoted Mitsotakis as saying in a statement today, adding that we hope that Turkey will eventually have rationality so that we can initiate an honest dialogue.
Yesterday, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias called on the Turkish regime to withdraw one of its ships on the Greek continental shelf.
Earlier today, the office of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced his country's desire to hold an urgent meeting of the European Union on Turkey after Ankara sent a ship to explore for oil in a disputed area in the eastern Mediterranean.
