The Ministry of Industry adopts the principle of ensuring the sustainability of local manufacturing in a way that ensures the continuity of providing basic commodities in the local market, exporting the surplus and creating job opportunities while preserving the appropriate quality and price, by rehabilitating and operating industrial facilities to operate according to the available productive capacities, increasing production at public sector companies and diversifying it with the implementation of projects that support Added values.
The Ministry of Industry indicated in its report on the reality of the industrial sector, of which the SANA Economic Bulletin obtained a copy, that a plan has been drawn up for a partial restoration of production lines and facilities that have an economic viability to supplement the public treasury with additional resources by taking measures to increase the number of profitable public companies by raising the rate of implementation of the production plan And reducing product costs in the 8 industrial public establishments that include more than 100 companies, factories and branches.
The ministry explained that a plan has been put in place to take off the stalled companies, add new production lines and develop their products according to the available capabilities, as the total number of new production lines and machines and those that have been rehabilitated from the beginning of 2019 until the first half of this year 2020/75 lines and a machine distributed in the chemical industrial sector With 28 lines, textiles with 25, engineering industries with 11, then the food sector with 6, and the cement industry with 5 lines.
According to the report, since the beginning of 2019, the Ministry of Industry has strengthened its measures taken to provide the products of its companies in the local market through the halls of these companies or the central sales halls or their sales outlets with the Syrian Trade Corporation, which provided a wide variety of various commodities, especially foodstuffs at prices below the price. Similar products in the local market by between 10 and 40 percent, indicating the constant endeavor to reduce the stock of industrial establishments through the creation of new marketing mechanisms in a way that contributes to increasing economic rent, as the stock has been reduced from the beginning of the current year until the end of the fifth month by a value of 9.4 billion Syrian pounds.
In its report, the Ministry indicates that it adopts the principle of scientific industry, modernization of the product and increasing the added value by expanding the production and strategic rings of transformational and strategic industries and stimulating investment in industries with high added value, applications of renewable energies, mining industries, industries with an advanced technological component and the recycling industry.
Within the framework of supporting and encouraging the industrial public sector, the Ministry suggested completing the work of the Industrial Public Sector Reform Committee and expediting securing the necessary technical labor for all operating industrial companies.
The value of industrial public sector sales reached 269.7 billion pounds in 2019, while its value reached 196.4 billion pounds during the first half of this year.
