It is understood that the explosion sound and strong light are emitted by the flares or flares used by ships. According to sources, the location where the flares was fired was not in the waters of Hong Kong, and it was initially learned that the Chinese military and police were conducting exercises on the Lingding Island area outside Zhuhai.

The police received a report from a resident of Lamma Island at 7:56 pm yesterday, stating that he heard a loud explosion in his residence and there was strong light on the sea outside the power station. After receiving the report, the police and firefighters sent out police launches and fireboats to search the sea around Lamma Island, but found nothing. It is understood that the islander heard multiple explosions and strong lights, and the windows vibrated due to loud noises. Therefore, he photographed the process and handed it to the police officers who were on the scene for reference.
Some islanders also took pictures and put them on the Internet. The filmmaker pointed out that three "rockets" emitting strong light were found before and after, but he only took one of them.
It is reported that the loud noise and strong light were emitted by a signal bomb or flare used by the suspected vessel, but the launch site has left Hong Kong waters. According to sources, the location of the launch of the signal bomb was Wailingding Island, only about 10 kilometers away from Lamma Island. It belongs to Chinese waters and one of the Wanshan Islands, which is under the jurisdiction of Zhuhai City. According to preliminary information, Chinese military and police personnel were launching signal bombs, conducting exercises on the sea near the site.
