Lebanese President Michel Aoun announced that the damage caused by the Beirut Port explosion had affected 200,000 housing units, explaining that the infrastructure had been destroyed in many parts of the Lebanese capital.

Aoun said during his meeting today with a Brazilian delegation headed by former President of Brazil Michel Tamer that the needs of Lebanon after the disaster of the port explosion are “very great,” adding: “The disaster came in the midst of the many crises that Lebanon is facing, including the economic and financial crisis and the Corona pandemic.”

For his part, Tamer expressed Brazil's readiness to provide aid to Lebanon, indicating in this regard that 16 thousand tons of medicine and 4 thousand tons of rice will arrive in Beirut via an air bridge between the two countries, respectively.

On the other hand, the Higher Judicial Council in Lebanon approved the appointment of the first military investigating judge, Fadi Sawan, as a forensic investigator in the Beirut port explosion.

It is expected that Sawan will receive the file tomorrow and initiate an investigation into it after the prosecution of 19 detainees and the issuance of the necessary arrest warrants against them.
