Iran has strongly condemned the announced normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. The Foreign Ministry in Tehran said on Friday that it was a "strategic stupidity" that could only strengthen the "axis of resistance in the region".

"The oppressed people of Palestine" and all "free nations of the world" would never forgive the normalization of relations with the "criminal Israeli occupying regime", warned the Foreign Ministry.

Israel and the United Arab Emirates announced the establishment of diplomatic relations on Thursday. An agreement between the two states also provides that Israel will for the time being renounce any planned annexations in the West Bank.

According to the American President Donald Trump, the agreement was reached through his mediation. According to Trump, it should be signed in the White House in about three weeks.

USA expect further rapprochement between Arab states and Israel

"A big breakthrough today," wrote Trump on Twitter after the decision: "A historic peace agreement between our two good friends, Israel and the United Arab Emirates."

After the agreement between Israel and the UAE, the American Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft expects that more Arab countries will follow and that Israel will come closer. In time, other states would "see the economic and political advantages that will arise between the United Arab Emirates and Israel," Craft said.
