Two giants face to face. On one side, Apple's AirPods Pro, on the other, Samsung's new Galaxy Buds Live. Both excellent wireless headphones but also clearly different. This promises to be an anthological battle.

Let's go with her.

The $ 249 AirPods Pro (currently discounted to $ 234) are the most popular wireless earbuds on the market and remain our top pick for headphones. They don't take risks with the design, but the shorter stems and rubber ear tips ensure a good in-ear seal. Excellent active noise cancellation and deep integration with the Apple ecosystem make them a clear winner.

Samsung's Galaxy Buds Live are not only priced lower ($ 169.99), but they stood out for their unusual design. They are shaped like beans and go almost completely into the ear. There is no tip that goes into your ear canal or a bulky design that forces them to protrude from the ear. The loud sound and long battery life make them an exceptional choice, and they're comfortable too.

Sound quality: AirPods Pro win

The Galaxy Buds Live and AirPods Pro both sound great but we think Apple's headphones win by a small margin thanks to a full in-ear seal along with an adaptive EQ. That's a real-time audio enhancement that measures how sound is reflected in your ears and adjusts the mix for the best experience. That makes for a rich, crisp experience that hits every note.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Live, on the other hand, sit in the ear, but have no tips that go into the canal. Rather, the speaker and driver have front-row ear seats. They are more powerful than the AirPods Pro, and even at high volumes, we did not experience any poorly played notes. There is also a processor that works in real time to mix the sound. If you like to customize your sound, the companion app for Android and iOS has an equalizer.

It's a very close to a tie result, but ultimately we believe the AirPods Pro offer a better sound experience.

Battery life: point for the Galaxy Buds Live

It's easy to declare the winner when it comes to battery life. The Galaxy Buds Live last much longer than the AirPods Pro. With Buds Live, you can expect six hours of playback with active noise cancellation, or 8.5 hours without it, almost double the five-hour battery life of the AirPods Pro.

Noise cancellation: Apple does it better

This one is easy too, as the AirPods Pro feature active noise cancellation in a sealed design. The ear tips alone provide passive cancellation and the extensive onboard microphones add to the cancellation of ambient noise. You feel like you're in a bubble, and it even works when you're sitting in an exit row of an airplane (remember?). Without music playback, they reduce engine noise to hum; with music playback, they block out noise completely.

Samsung took a more unusual route. Buds Live have an open design with an air vent to reduce pressure in the ear. When playing music at high volumes, outside sound leaks out. It just isn't sealed. So the Buds Live's active cancellation is an open type that allows more ambient sounds to enter the mix. They are ideal for working at home, as they block casual conversations, but let in sirens or traffic.

The final result

The choice is clear if you have an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. AirPods Pro and an iPhone are a dream set. You get fast pairing, syncing across all your Apple devices, and easy access to turn ANC on or off within the Control Center. It simply has a rival, even at the hefty $ 249.99 price.

Galaxy Buds Live will quickly pair with your Samsung Galaxy, and the companion app is most likely already installed on your device. Once you open the case and put the beans in your ears, Bluetooth is activated and they connect automatically.

As a whole, the AirPods Pro win by a bit thanks to a design that seals your ear and more traditional noise cancellation with a classic design.

But Galaxy Buds Live are new, unique, and exciting. If you do not need the noise cancellation so effective. At $ 169.99, these bring tremendous value. And they work with iPhone, Android or any device with Bluetooth. AirPods can also be paired with an Android, but the experience is not as good or comfortable and you are paying more for them.
