Speed in digitization and tangible results in traffic development planning - these are the two main demands with which the Brucker CSU comes out of its summer retreat.

The main topic this year was the digitization of schools, reported local chairman Andreas Lohde, his deputy Dieter Pimiskern and third mayor Birgitta Klemenz in a press conference. It cannot be that Germany ranks 13th behind Hungary and Kazakhstan in an international comparison. And at least for the city schools, the CSU demands that gas be given and more money invested. Lohde therefore sees the 500,000 euros earmarked in the 2021 budget for the digital equipment of the schools as a minimum and would like to add another 200,000 euros.
Just as important as the general conditions is that all children have access to digital devices - which has not been the case to date. The city has already ordered loan equipment worth 85,000 euros provided by the federal government and the Free State. The CSU can imagine procuring more tablets with the help of sponsors or fundraising campaigns.
Finances
As far as finances are concerned, despite the looming ten million euro revenue gap, the CSU representatives surprised with the statement: “We don't want to save.” Rather, expenditure should be channeled sensibly and investments “outsourced” if that can be done in this way get the same result. The best example is the construction of subsidized apartments on Sulzbogen, which the city will not realize itself. By awarding the contract to a construction company, the budget is relieved and affordable living space is created "as quickly as possible".

In terms of traffic development planning, the CSU sees a hot phase dawning in autumn. Feedback from the citizens' workshops was received that important questions - especially those about the future of B2 - were not being asked. Here the CSU would like to "approach a tunnel solution", as Lohde said. In any case, after evaluating all studies, surveys and discussions, one should not stop at generally formulated goals, but rather implement actionable measures. Lohde: "It has to be specific now."
