Despite the health disaster that Brazil is going through due to the coronavirus pandemic, with more than three million people infected and 106 thousand dead, the popularity of President Jair Bolsonaro reached the highest level since he is in power.

37% of Brazilians approve of Bolsonaro's management, an unprecedented level since the beginning of the mandate, despite the controversies in which he has been involved in recent months over the management of the new coronavirus pandemic that included even his own contagion.

The data are from the Datafolha survey, published by the newspaper 'Folha de Sao Paulo: one in three citizens consider Bolsonaro's management "good" or "optimal". The figure exceeds its previous best value by four points  and increases in the case of men and businessmen.

On the other hand, 34% of the 2,065 people interviewed describe the president's management as "bad" or "lousy", while 27% consider it "regular", according to the survey.

Bolsonaro has been criticized in recent months for the economic situation in Brazil, the deforestation of the Amazon and the response to the Covid-19 pandemic, a disease that he himself suffered after downplaying infections and avoiding wearing a chinstrap in places public.

A week ago, Brazil surpassed the barrier of 100,000 deaths and 3 million coronavirus infections . It is the second most affected country in the world behind the United States.
