Pointing out an " acceleration of viral circulation in areas with a high influx of population ", the prefecture indicates in a press release that " given the health trends, the density of flows on certain sites as well as the lack of compliance with the barrier measures observed there ”, the mask will become compulsory from 11 years old, from Saturday until September 15.

A clear acceleration of cases in the region

The areas concerned are the pedestrianized city center of Dijon, as well as the municipal markets of the same city and its suburbs. Also affected is the historic center of Semur-en-Auxois, a tourist town located not far from the capital of the Dukes of Burgundy.

Offenders are liable to a fine of 135 euros. Classified in the " red " zone during the peak of the Covid-19 epidemic, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté was returned to green after deconfinement, but a clear acceleration in Covid-19 cases has recently been observed.

Over the last 7-day period, 166 tests were positive, out of just over 18,500 results. This is the " highest " number recorded since the release of confinement in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, said the Regional Health Agency in its last bulletin of August 7.
