A man was indicted and imprisoned for stabbing his wife on the night of Wednesday to Thursday at their home in Chevilly-Larue (Val-de-Marne), reports the Créteil prosecutor's office.
According to our information, the 30-year-old victim, pursued by her husband, with whom an argument broke out in the middle of the night, had cleared the first floor in an attempt to flee. Her husband then managed to catch up with her, according to witnesses, before forcing her back into the family apartment. It was there that the young woman was discovered by the police, lifeless on the ground, with two broken knives nearby.
One of the couple's two children, four years old and present in the apartment during the tragedy, was provisionally entrusted to Social Assistance for Children (ASE). The other child is currently with family members, said the same source.
This drama brings to 44 the number of suspected feminicides identified since the beginning of the year, according to a count by Agence France Presse. In 2019, at least 126 women were killed by their partner or ex, or one woman every three days on average.
