Haute-Marne: a Chechen national attacked, 16 others in police custody

Sixteen Chechen nationals were in police custody on Saturday morning in Saint-Dizier (Haute-Marne), arrested after the assault on another Chechen whom they would have wanted to avenge, according to concordant sources.

According to a police source, the attack took place in the Vert-Bois district and the sixteen people arrested wanted to avenge this attack.

The prefecture stresses that " this is not an inter-community situation " and that on Friday evening, the situation was " completely calm ". " However, in order to prevent any risk of reprisals ", the prefect of Haute-Marne and the departmental director of public security " have deployed a reinforced preventive security system which mobilizes departmental, zonal and national police officers ."

Still according to the prefecture, “ as part of the preventive control and interception system put in place, 16 people were arrested and are in police custody, in the context of ongoing legal proceedings. "
