Will the great heat wave in Bavaria end in mid-August? Strong thunderstorms cooled off in Munich and the surrounding area - but the short summer break did not last long.

Update from August 15, 7:39 p.m.: In Munich it remained largely calm after brief downpours in the morning, but there was a crash in other regions of Bavaria on Saturday. The German Meteorological Service warns of strong thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusts of wind at speeds of around 60 km / h on the edge of the Alps, on the border with the Czech Republic and west of the state capital until 8 p.m. Even small-grain hail could come down.
Update from August 15, 8:27 a.m.: The storms continue in Bavaria today, especially in the north and east of Bavaria. In the state capital Munich, however, things look better . There may still be a few showers from morning to mid-morning . But from midday onwards they lie down again and towards evening, even the sun can easily peek through.
Today summer takes a short break from the temperatures . A maximum of 24 degrees are achieved. Heat fans don't have to worry that summer in Munich is over, because the break only lasts today. Tomorrow the heat will return to Munich, albeit not as much as in the last few days. But again only for one day, then it will probably get wet again.
Update from August 14, 6:24 p.m.: In Munich and in the northern districts of Dachau , Freising and Erding it can really crash in the coming hour. The German Weather Service ( DWD ) had issued an official warning of sometimes strong thunderstorms. Up to 25 liters per square meter can fall. There is also a good wind blowing. Speeds of up to 60 km / h are possible. In some places small-grain hail can mix with the raindrops.

Munich weather for the weekend: Dry weekend - then new rain comes
As wetter.com predicts, heavy rain showers are looming on Friday (August 14) . The prognosis is that up to 14 liters can fall per square meter . The weekend starts wet too. According to the forecast of the weather portal, Saturday night remains rainy. Over the course of the day it should then be dry and rise to at least 26 degrees. The heat would be off the table for now .
Munich weather: next week starts rainy - end of midsummer?
Even Sunday remains dry and pleasant. But even the start of the week on Monday (August 17th) can bring new rain . With only 23 degrees then there is finally time to ventilate, the following days remain changeable and compared to the previous days it remains significantly cooler at almost 23 degrees .
