Stipe Miocic defeated veteran Daniel Cormier by unanimous decision in the main event at UFC 252 in Las Vegas to retain his heavyweight title. After this, Cormier stated that he is not interested in fighting any more and that he does not imagine there will be a title in the future, so that will be it for him. In addition to practically announcing his retirement, Cormier suffered a torn cornea in his left eye, when Miocic accidentally stung him during the second episode. Cormier said that, for now, this injury does not require surgery. If this truly is the end of Cormier's career, he would end with a record of 22 wins and three losses, two of those against Miocic.
