Senior Israeli officials estimate that the delegation for talks with the United Arab Emirates on the implementation of the normalization agreement will leave for Abu Dhabi only next week. According to them, the reason is that the preparatory work of the various government ministries must first be completed. "There is still no date for the departure of the delegation," said one of the senior officials.

This coming Tuesday, the Political-Security Cabinet is expected to convene for a pre-arranged discussion and will deal with several current issues. Among other things, the ministers are also expected to receive an update on the normalization agreement with the United Arab Emirates.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has appointed National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat to coordinate the preparatory work of the various government ministries. However, it is still unclear who will head the delegation and what the exact composition will be. The Prime Minister's Office wants the National Security Headquarters to lead the delegation, and the Foreign Ministry is interested in leading the delegation themselves.

A senior Israeli official noted that after the connection of the telephone ties between Israel and the United Arab Emirates today, the two issues that will be addressed in the near future concern the aviation ties and visas of Israelis entering the UAE and the citizens of the UAE to Israel. US President Donald Trump and senior adviser Jared Kushner said the agreement would allow direct flights from Abu Dhabi and Dubai to Israel, where UAE citizens wishing to visit the Al-Aqsa Mosque could arrive.

The issue of visas is very sensitive as it also has a security aspect. The General Security Service examines applications for entry visas for citizens of Arab countries. For this reason, many Jordanian and Egyptian citizens who wish to come to Israel encounter many difficulties and sometimes wait months for a visa.

At the same time, Mossad chief Yossi Cohen is also expected to leave for the United Arab Emirates this week. However his visit is not expected to deal specifically with the implementation of the normalization agreement. This is a visit that has been planned for several months and will deal with the issue of annexation, among other things, but will only be implemented now that the annexation has already been dropped.
