Did a returnee bring the virus from home on vacation? The Miesbach health department quarantined an accommodation in Holzkirchen that is used by workers from Balkan countries on Saturday after one of the residents tested positive for the corona virus.

Holzkirchen - After a resident's positive test result, the Miesbach health department had no choice: As a press release from the district office says, the authority classified all of the infected person's roommates as close contacts due to the cramped living conditions in the Holzkirchen district. There are 20 workers from the Balkans. "They were all crossed off and quarantined," says Sophie Stadler, press spokeswoman for the district office. The results of the smears are still pending.

Possibly also "measures" in the companies

The health department checks whether one or more residents of the accommodation are returnees from risk areas. The "Contact Tracing" team is in the process of identifying further contact persons in the professional and private environment. Another focus is on the businesses where the residents are employed. "We carefully clarify whether measures to contain the virus are also required in the companies," says Stadler.

Security service ensures compliance with the quarantine

Despite the quarantine, the 20 residents of the Holzkirchen workers' accommodation have the opportunity to be outdoors. To seal off the group, a construction fence was put up around the building. According to the district office, employees of a security service ensure compliance with the quarantine. It is already the second collective accommodation in the north of the district that is currently being shielded from the public: an asylum accommodation on Otterfinger Pitzarweg is also affected by quarantine (we reported).

The number of Covid-19 infected people in the district has been increasing for a few days, but it is still on a flat curve. A week ago, 15 "active cases" were registered, now there are 19, as stated in the press release on Saturday. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the coronavirus has been confirmed in 624 people in the district, of whom 592 are considered recovered. Ten people died of or with Covid-19.
