Transactions in tens of millions: An employee of a security body was convicted of bribery and sentenced to 5 years in prison
The employee admitted in a plea bargain that, together with another employee, they received covert holdings in companies for the sale of equipment to security bodies - and in return promoted solid deals in the millions of shekels. He was convicted of, among other things, taking bribes, receiving anything fraudulently, theft, breach of trust and money laundering and tax.

Sunday, 16 August 2020, 17:05An employee of a security body was convicted as part of a plea deal in a series of serious corruption offenses, and sentenced to five years in prison. The entire affair is under a blanket publication ban order. However, the Tel Aviv District Court allowed to reveal some details about the plea deal, which was submitted to the court about a month ago, which are published for the first time today (Sunday) in Walla! NEWS.
According to the indictment in which the employee admitted, he and another official in the security organization received covert holdings in a company that sells equipment to security bodies, and received bribes from another company and its owners. In return, they promoted transactions between the security body in which they worked, as well as other security bodies, and the same companies. The scope of the transactions is estimated at tens of millions of shekels.

As part of the plea deal, the employee pleaded guilty to taking bribes, receiving anything fraudulently under aggravated circumstances, theft by a public employee, fraud and breach of trust, conspiracy to commit a crime, destruction of evidence and obstruction of justice, false registration in corporate documents, and money laundering and tax offenses. Apart from the actual imprisonment, he was also sentenced to probation and forfeiture and fines of NIS 1.3 million.

According to the prosecution's announcement last December, several employees of the security body were summoned for a hearing before an indictment was filed, but this is the first conviction in the case.
