The Prime Minister in charge of conducting business, Engineer Hussein Arnous, confirmed that President Bashar al-Assad's speech to the members of the People's Assembly was characterized by comprehensiveness, clarity, stability and transparency in proposing before the citizen and the official at the same time, it carried goals and contents that the government team must translate into an executive program of action at the level of each Ministry.

During his presidency of the Council’s weekly session today, Eng. Arnous explained the importance of focusing on enhancing the productive process, developing public and private investments, expanding the base of micro, small and medium enterprises, restructuring the agricultural sector, supporting family farming, facilitating the return of farmers to their lands, developing the food industry sector, and intensifying steps to combat corruption, institutionally and administratively.

During the session, the ministers presented interventions centered around the work program of each ministry with the aim of putting the directives of President Bashar al-Assad into effect, and the council discussed work axes for the next phase in preparation for approval within executive programs that directly reflect on improving the standard of living, supporting the national economy and implementing projects that achieve self-sufficiency in addition to dealing mechanisms. The council examined a draft law exempting production requirements and raw materials used in the manufacture of medicinal and preventive veterinary preparations from customs duties and all other taxes and fees imposed on import, with the aim of providing preventive medicines and vaccines to secure health protection for livestock herds and contribute to reducing animal production costs.

The Council requested all ministries to give priority to reforming heavy engineering machinery and agreed to grant the Food Industries Corporation an advance of one billion Syrian pounds to enhance the production of its subsidiaries of consumer and agricultural materials, and it requested the Ministry of Internal Trade to equip Tal Kalakh mill within a year.

The Council stressed the need to continue applying precautionary measures to address the Corona epidemic in various sectors of work, production and services in terms of spatial distancing and the use of masks.
