Aleppo-Sana

The activities of the second folklore festival were launched in the Tishreen Gallery of Fine Arts in Aleppo today, in celebration of the Syrian Heritage Days, which will last for five days.

The first day of activities included honoring a number of figures interested in heritage, in addition to the opening of an exhibition of historical documents.

Jaber Al-Sajour, Director of Culture in Aleppo, explained that the festival also includes traditional artistic concerts that are broadcast live on the Culture Directorate's Facebook page, in addition to a lecture and a workshop on the flute and how to make it.

And he indicated that the exhibition of historical documents by Dr. Muhammad Khatami, one of those interested in heritage, contains 100 historical documents about the city of Aleppo and a number of papers and service documents dating back 100 years ago, noting that these documents are a collection of receipts, property papers, financial, service, real estate and judicial documents, and personal documents affixed with the seal and signature. Which is considered an indication of the social and economic situation in that period in Aleppo.

For his part, artist Omar Sarmini said that the festival includes honoring those who had a positive role and impact in preserving the Syrian heritage, which "gives them an incentive and motivation for the continuation of activity, giving and creativity."

Among the honored personalities of the festival is Engineer Abdul Hadi Hardan, Chairman of the Syrian Society for the Rehabilitation of Antiquities and Crafts, who considered that this event gives a "great impetus" for the reconstruction of the homeland.
