Predicate close to nature: the nature adventure garden of the horticultural and landscape maintenance association Krailling has been certified.
Krailling - "If you want to be happy for a lifetime, then start a garden", says a German proverb. The Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture goes a little further. People feel really good in their garden when it is close to nature. “There the adult can 'ground' himself again. For children it is a land of discovery and a school for life, ”writes the state institute on its website. Together with the Bavarian State Association for Horticulture and Land Care eV, it awards certification to particularly natural gardens under the slogan "Bavaria in bloom - natural garden".
37 gardens are sighted
An eight-person certification team has been out and about in the Starnberg district since mid-May, inspecting a total of 37 gardens. The nature adventure garden of the Krailling Garden and State Maintenance Association was one of the first to receive the coveted award. The examination board considered all of the required criteria to be met. For example, no chemical pesticides or chemical-synthetic fertilizers may be used in a natural garden. The use of peat-containing substrates to improve soil is also prohibited. A high ecological diversity must also be demonstrated in the garden. There are also natural garden elements such as wild herbs or site-appropriate shrubs and woody plants as well as kitchen garden elements such as compost, vegetable beds, nesting aids and rainwater harvesting.
The Kraillinger Naturerlebnisgarten now not only has "nature" in its name, but also the responsible gardening has been expressly confirmed. The Board of Directors hopes that the award will provide “another boost for the association”. New garden lovers are desired, "who look after the garden in good company and want to enjoy the rich harvest."
