President Bashar Al-Assad today received Ali Asghar Khaji, the Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, and his accompanying delegation.
The two sides also discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries to confront the blockade imposed by the United States and its allies against Syria and the possible options for dealing with it and its effects with the help of friendly and allied countries and all those who reject the piracy practices followed by the United States under false names and addresses to suffocate the Syrian people.
The Iranian side stressed the importance of deepening the level of economic cooperation between the two countries to confront this blockade.
During the meeting, the Iranian side congratulated Syria, the people and its leadership, for the completion of the recent parliamentary elections, as the head of the Iranian delegation affirmed that the holding of these elections at this time is evidence of the Syrian people's adherence to their land and state and their keenness to participate in the important constitutional benefits despite all the circumstances they are going through.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, political and media advisor at the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Raad, Director of the Asia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and Luna Al-Shibl, Director of the Political and Information Office in the Presidency of the Republic.
