Attempts to reduce the educational gaps from the first wave of the Corona, days of adjustment to kindergartens, focusing on matriculation material and strengthening the status of principals, these are some of the emphases in the pedagogical program for the 2007-2008 school year published today (Monday) by the Ministry of Education. 

As part of the program leading up to September 1, the Ministry of Education aims to strengthen the status of principals and enable them to lead the institutions on their way. Among other things, in the coming years there are plans to reduce control over schools and expand the scope of powers and resources that will be available to each principal.

In addition, the Ministry of Education intends to lay a long-term infrastructure for the digital learning system and make it a central part of teaching. 

Another goal of the Ministry of Education is to "strengthen the students' connection, identity and love of the homeland for their country and their heritage," in addition to their knowledge of the history of the State of Israel. The Ministry of Education intends to strengthen the value of recruitment for meaningful service to the IDF. 

According to the plan, the education system intends to map the learning gaps and strengthen the digital learning and collaborative learning skills. 

Adaptation in kindergartens

The Ministry of Education has also published a plan for the distribution of students in the various classes in view of the limitations of the corona virus. In kindergartens, attendance will be graded and according to small groups of between five and six children at a time, according to a schedule published by the kindergarten teacher. Parents will be asked to say goodbye to their children at the kindergarten entrance while wearing masks. On the second day, the arrival will be conducted according to two different groups according to the schedule set by the kindergarten teacher. On the third day of school, the kindergartens will operate from 8:00 to 14:00. At the age of four to five, the activity will be conducted as usual. 

In first grades, arrival on the first day will be graded in groups of up to ten students. Each student will be accompanied by one parent. While the reception of students at the school will take place in separate complexes. It was also determined that no more than 20 people will be in the compound. The curriculum will initially include the completion of missing processes from the kindergarten period - and immediately thereafter the acquisition of reading and writing skills. 

In seventh and eighth grades, the plan is to hold an outreach activity that will try to locate difficulties and hardships. In the tenth grade, the program prescribes formation activities, familiarity with digital means and preparations for the matriculation exams, as well as preparations for social involvement. 

Matriculation exam - in six different subjects

The Ministry of Education is planning exams in six external subjects that will include the three compulsory subjects (mathematics, English and mother tongue), two humanities subjects such as literature, Bible, history and citizenship. Art, Geography, Dance, Communication, Languages, Theater, Physical Education and more). 

In addition, additional matriculation dates have been set, for sick students or in isolation, and in each subject there will be two dates (regular date and completion date). 

Focus on the study material for matriculation

The Ministry of Education has determined that in the matriculation exam in mathematics by 5-4 units, the study material will be reduced by about 10%. In 11th grade you will be able to choose 5 out of 8 questions, and in 12th grade you will be able to choose 3 out of 5 questions.

In matriculation in mathematics 3 units, a score will be accumulated to increase the student's chances of passing the exam. In addition, in matriculation in Hebrew, Arabic, English, and the humanities cluster (history, literature, bible, citizenship), the study material was reduced by 30%.

In the theoretical and technological matriculation (5 units), the study material was reduced by 20%.
