The Movement for Quality of Government petitioned the High Court today (Monday) to suspend the process of appointing the Commissioner of Police - this is what Walla learned today (Monday)! NEWS. This, on the grounds that as long as the petition against the Minister of Internal Security Amir Ohana, who seeks to check whether he is acting as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's representative in office, has not been clarified, he is in a conflict of interest regarding the appointment of senior police officers.

"There are several investigations currently underway against the prime minister, and the criminal proceedings in his case are pending in the Jerusalem District Court," it was written. "Through the Minister of Internal Security, who is directly subordinate to him and has a direct 'affiliation' with him - in order to harm the independence of the police when it comes to engaging in his affairs."

For these reasons, the Movement for Quality of Government seeks to "order an interim order that will freeze at this stage the ability of the Minister of Internal Security and the Prime Minister to make any decision regarding the law enforcement system, including the appointment of a police commissioner."

It was further argued in the petition that Netanyahu is refraining from setting restrictions in his case, and that the activities of the prime minister and Ohana could lead to serious damage to public trust in the authorities.

In addition, the Movement for Quality of Government sought to include Ohana as a respondent to the petition. This is due to the fear that the Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Security may continue to make acute decisions, including the appointment of a permanent police commissioner. The law compels his role as prime minister. "
