Learn about “craÿotherapy” at Domaine Henri Giraud
The chalk bath has become the specialty of Manoir Henri Giraud. Manor Henri Giraud
Opened last December, the Manoir Henri Giraud is nestled at the foot of the Aÿ-Champagne vineyard, where the eponymous house has been working the vines since 1625. The spaces of this listed 19th century residence have been converted into five luxury private apartments and a spa with surprising services. In an enveloping cellar, the flagship experience of the Manor is delivered: “craÿotherapy”. Chalk, rich in trace elements and minerals, has medicinal properties for the body, stimulates the electrolytes in skin cells and improves their metabolism. When bathed, it strengthens the skin barrier and rebalances the level of hydration.
With their skin smoothed and mind rested, guests are then invited to take part in a tasting of the estate's emblematic cuvée, “Argonne”. Each year, international experts meet in the workshops of Maison Henri Giraud to understand the impact of the geological composition of the soil in the neighboring forest of Argonne on the taste and texture of the wines. With only 250,000 bottles produced, and a few thousand for vintage vintages, these Champagne are today sought after by collectors and amateurs all over the world.
