Hedwig Wildegger has remained loyal to the Martin School for many years, even in times of great change. Most recently she was even headmaster there. Today the former rector celebrates her 95th birthday.
Olching - The jubilee was born on August 18th, 1925 near Stuttgart. But when she was a child, her parents moved to Munich, where she still lives with her son Wolfgang. Daughter Gertrud lives in Berlin.
During the chaos of war and the post-war years, Hedwig Wildegger finished her school days and training as a teacher. In 1948 she came to the Martinschule as a young teacher, where she stayed until retirement in 1989.
In these more than 40 years a lot has changed at the school. At the beginning, the primary school was still an all-girls school, at which nuns were also active. That changed in 1970: "Then the nuns disappeared and we secular teachers stayed behind," says the jubilee. In addition, boys were allowed to attend elementary school.
The former rector not only teaches children at the school. Students from what was then the Pedagogical University in Pasing also attended their classes regularly to learn how to become teachers.
Lasting friendships were also formed at the Martinschule - and not just among the students. Even after more than 30 years in retirement, the sprightly 95-year-old jubilee goes to a get-together with her former colleagues once a month. The meeting will of course take place in Olching. sb
