(CNN) - The president of FC Barcelona, Josep Maria Bartomeu, says that the team will hire Ronald Koeman as the club's new coach if "nothing goes wrong."

Koeman would replace Quique Setien who was fired from the post on Monday.
Bartomeu, who addressed the current situation on Tuesday with the club's media partner Barca TV +, was quoted on Barcelona's official Twitter account as saying: “If nothing goes wrong, Koeman will be Barça's manager next season. We already know how he thinks and his philosophy.
Koeman, currently in charge of the Netherlands men's team, was at Barça as a player for six seasons from 1989-1995.
Setien, who managed the club for just seven months, was in command on Friday during Barcelona's humiliating 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
