"Family, family, family, those are the only wishes I have," said 9-year-old Jordan, who has been searching for a home since 2014, when asked in the report if three wishes were granted.

Jordan is only 9 years old but has already been in six foster homes since 2014. His only wish is to be adopted by a family, a dream that seems one step away from becoming a reality for this Oklahoma minor.

Jordan appeared on an NBC News report in Oklahoma asking for "a mom and dad. Or just a mom. Or just a dad, it doesn't really matter."

"I hope some of you choose me," he added.

In less than 12 hours after the news was broadcast, thousands of people say they are willing to adopt him.

"Family, family, family, those are the only wishes I have," said the boy, who has been under the care of the state Department of Health since 2014, when asked in the report if three wishes were granted.

The minor said that, if he could go anywhere in the world, he would choose to go to "an adoption party for a home."

Since then, the state agency has received about 5,000 requests for information to adopt him, its spokesperson Casey White told NBC New.

The requests have come from places like New Jersey, Florida, Illinois or Kentucky, but White says they prefer that he remain in Oklahoma so that he can be close to his younger brother, Braison, who was adopted a year ago.

"Jordan has had problems while in foster care. Now he's older. He's adorable. He really wants a family. He sees that his brother has found him," White said of the youngest.

He added that he hopes interest in the story will inspire people to consider the many other children in foster care across the state and across the United States.

"When a situation like this occurs and a child's story goes viral, sometimes families are only interested in that child," he said, emphasizing that "there are many other children who need families."

"I really hope that if people get carried away by Jordan's story, they will remember that he is not alone," he said, "our foster families are critical in helping children heal. If he touched your heart, he probably has. a reason you called. "

Now Jordan's future is in the hands of Christopher Marlowe, the child welfare specialist in charge of finding a permanent home for the child: "I'm in the process of reading those profiles to select a family to try to move on with." .
