Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today (Wednesday) that as part of the agreement with the United Arab Emirates "there is no consent of mine, either openly or covertly, on the sale of weapons." During the Negev lobby's debate in the Knesset, Netanyahu said that "the agreement is a huge economic opportunity for the Negev. They are very interested in investing in Israel and I intend to get them to invest in the Negev. Unfortunately, there are Pike News around it.
Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting yesterday that he had not given any consent to the sale of F-35s to the UAE as part of the agreement and that in the event of such a deal coming up in the future by the White House he would oppose it - including with the US Congress, according to cabinet ministers. Netanyahu opened the meeting with a long speech in which he denied that the normalization agreement includes any understandings regarding the sale of American weapons to the UAE.
