Six people were injured, including three seriously, in a series of collisions on a Berlin highway that are being investigated as an act of terrorism - prosecutors in the case told the German news agency today (Wednesday) that the suspect is a 30-year-old Iraqi citizen, identified by local media as Smadar D. He is suspected of three attempted murders against an Islamist background.
The suspect collided with several vehicles last night, intentionally hitting motorcycles, along a highway in the German capital. The accidents, which happened in three different hotspots, led to the closure of the road, which is one of the main transport arteries in Berlin, which created huge traffic jams. The German news agency reported that there were indications that the same person also suffered from mental problems.
Local media reported that the suspect, who was driving a black "Opel", stopped on the road after the third collision and put a box on the roof of the car. He claimed to have explosives inside and shouted "Allah Akbar" as he left it. "Bild" reported that he also shouted "that no one will come close, otherwise you will die".
