Within the framework of the civil and societal contribution to support government efforts in dealing with Corona virus, the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside today launched an initiative to support the health sector, which included the distribution of the first batch of masks and sterilizers to a number of Damascus public hospitals.
Dr. Samer Khader, Director General of Damascus Hospital, indicated that these initiatives embody the partnership between the public and private sectors and the cooperation of all parties to contain the repercussions of the Corona virus, and they give an important indicator of social solidarity and the strength of society.
The medical director of Al-Assad University Hospital, Dr. Adnan Ahmed stressed the importance of this initiative, especially in terms of securing the “N95” masks that the hospital needs as a result of daily consumption and to protect the medical staff and secure appropriate services for the injured.
Dr. Ammar Al-Raee, medical director of Al-Mouwasat University Hospital, indicated that the materials provided are a preliminary initiative and that there will be other materials, hoping that there will be more support, whether from plastic masks, protective medical clothing and masks that the medical staff needs.
Chairman of the Detergents and Soap Committee in the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside Mahmoud al-Mufti pointed out that this initiative opens the door for the civil society to play its role in supporting the health system and medical personnel in light of this pandemic, pointing to the Chamber's determination to take a second step to secure protective medical clothing for these cadres.
