An unprecedented drama at Glew ended in the worst way. This Wednesday, Raquel Verónica Arbona, the woman who was fighting for her life after being shot in the face when her husband was struggling with a thief, died. And the list of victims of insecurity in the suburbs continues to grow.
Arbona (45) had been hospitalized since the early hours of Friday, when she entered the Lucio Meléndez de Adrogué Hospital, Almirante Brown's party, with a gunshot wound to the head. There she had been operated on and remained in a reserved state. Family members confirmed to Clarín that the woman, an officer of the Buenos Aires Penitentiary Service (SPB), died this Wednesday.
That morning of terror, at 2.15, four armed robbers entered the house where Raquel slept with her husband, Gustavo Eduardo Obregón (46), located in Roldán at 200.
The couple woke up to the sounds of the robbers and saw one of them armed with a knife inside the room. Then Gustavo, an employee of a transportation company, took his 9 mm pistol to defend himself, there was a struggle and seven shots were fired. One of them hit Raquel in the face, another wounded the thief.

Raquel was assigned to the Subdirectorate of Operations of the SPB and worked as an assistant in the Departmental Warden of Avellaneda. Her family, this Tuesday, requested through social networks the transfer of the woman to Hospital El Cruce de Florencio Varela. "She is in serious condition and there is no bed in intensive care," wrote a cousin.
The assailants fled in different directions. Three ran toward a white Ford Focus waiting for them on a corner, investigators could see on video from security cameras at one business.
Searching in health centers in the area, the Police detected that the Glew Prompt Attention Unit (UPA) had entered three young people, one of whom was shot and died at the scene.
Investigators suspect that the dead young man, identified as Luis Ángel González (20), was one of the thieves wounded by the shots of the owner of the Glew house, while a few minutes after the fact and thanks to the alert from neighbors, the Police surrounded the area and arrested two suspects identified as Roberto Daniel Chayan (24) and Brian Humberto Chávez (22).
Later, the same white Focus in which the attackers had escaped returned to Glew's UPA with González's mother. Upon being identified by the Police, the driver broke down and confessed that he did "de remís" to transfer the thieves to the place of the robbery and then to the living room. The man, surnamed Zapiola, was arrested and the prosecutor ordered the car hijacked.
With this and other clues, the investigators found a fourth assailant, also wounded by a gunshot, at the San Justo Hospital. This last detainee was identified as Ayrton Barraza.
The case is investigated by the prosecutor Ricardo Silvestrini, from the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 11 thematic Entraderas de Lomas de Zamora.
