Over a period of ten days, with the participation of more than 28 artists, the Fine Arts Center of the Lattakia Culture Directorate will host the Zakaria Shariki Forum for Plastic Art in its second session.

The forum, which was launched by the Ministry of Culture in its first session last year under the name of the artist Zakaria Shriqi, is part of the ministry’s interest and work to honor cultural majors in various fields and to introduce young generations to them while they are still continuing to give, according to the supervisor of the forum, plastic artist Mohamed Badr Hamdan.

Hamdan, who emphasized in a statement to SANA the importance of the forum and its continuity despite all circumstances, indicated the organizers ’keenness to choose the Fine Arts Center this year as a place to host the forum to illuminate these centers, which constitute one of the most important educational and educational spaces in the governorates by teaching art for all ages and within symbolic costs. Follow-up of graduates and help them find their own path in art and create a space for discussion and dialogue in spaces of plastic art between the professors and graduates of the center, and create a window on how and stages of artistic work.

Plastic artist and professor at the Center for Fine Arts, Abdullah Khaddam, praised the forum that bears the name of one of his professors who had a great impact on plastic and cultural life in the province of Lattakia in addition to its importance in allowing different generations to meet in art to create dialogue and convergence and present it to the public within levels and propositions And different configurable values.

In turn, plastic artist Adawiya Dayoub, a professor at the center, saw that the continuity of the forum despite the crises comes as an expression of the desire to live that is rooted in the Syrian human being rich in his civilization and values, as well as an added value for plastic art through his residence under the name of a plastic artist with a long history in art and literature.

As for the student in her final year at the Center for Plastic Arts, Atlal Shamalat, she considered that her first participation in the forum, alongside her professors, was a great opportunity to develop her skills, build confidence, and get her work out to the public.

It is noteworthy that Zakaria Shriqi is a writer and plastic artist with a number of publications in the field of short story, novel and literary study. He is a member of the Syrian Plastic Artists Union, Arab Writers and Artists. He headed the Fine Arts Center in Latakia and participated in the seasonal exhibitions of the Artists Union. He also participated in the 1978 Cuba International Festival, where he obtained Honor diploma in oil painting and held many solo exhibitions.
