(CNN Business) - Have you ever found yourself forever browsing Netflix trying to find something to watch? You are not alone and the company may have found a solution.
Netflix confirmed that it is testing a shuffle button , which will allow viewers to make the service randomly select a movie or TV show.
The button, which appears below the user's profile and on the home screen, will choose a selection based on viewing history, preferences, and playlists. The company began testing the feature in July. TechCrunch was the first to report on the new option.
The shuffle feature could be especially useful for audiences that are overwhelmed by the need to choose or just bored. It also helps Netflix distinguish its service from a growing list of competitors.

"We are always looking for better ways to connect members with shows and movies that they will love," said a Netflix spokesperson. "We run these tests in different countries and for different periods of time, and we only make them generally available if people find them useful," he explained.
Other services have tried to figure out how to make their streaming libraries more accessible to consumers.
WarnerMedia's new service HBO Max, for example, touted itself on personalization by stating that its recommendation engine would be better than the competition's. (WarnerMedia is also CNN's parent company.)

Peacock, NBCUniversal's new service, has a comprehensive library of shows and movies and has also embraced channels that play random content throughout the day in the same way that traditional television does.
As for Netflix, it is coming off a solid quarter in which it added 10 million subscribers. That number exceeded her own expectations.
The service now has approximately 193 million members worldwide.
