France, Germany and the United Kingdom do not support the initiative taken at the UN by the United States to demand the reinstatement of international sanctions against Iran, accused of having violated the 2015 agreement on nuclear, according to a statement released Thursday by Paris, Berlin and London.

The United States triggered this so-called “ snapback ” mechanism as one of the “ participants ” in the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement (known as JCPoA). But " France, Germany and the United Kingdom note that the United States ceased to be a participant in the JCPoA following their withdrawal from the agreement " in 2018, underline their chanceries, which cannot " not support this initiative, which is incompatible with our current efforts to support the JCPoA ”.
