In a complex period, in which it is beginning to become clear what happened in the kindergartens in Ramla, Holon and Haifa, Justice Minister Avi Nissenkorn and Welfare Minister Itzik Shmuli decided to officially apply the Cameras in Kindergartens Law, according to which every homeowner will be required to install security cameras. .

These are closed-circuit cameras that will record around the clock, but the documentation will only be retrieved in case of reasonable suspicion of violence and a court order. Anyone who uses photographs illegally is subject to a six-month prison sentence. Kindergarten administrators should clearly indicate that cameras are installed on site.

The law will take effect on September 1, 2020, after a one-year adjustment period. It will be used as a condition for obtaining a business license. Under the Arrangements Law, the Regulatory Division of the Prime Minister's Office requested that the implementation of the law be postponed for two years in order to make it easier for the dormitory owners, who were in any case harmed by the corona crisis. Professional sources have opposed the law in the past for fear of leaking materials and invading privacy.

The Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Services is due to launch an extensive enforcement operation earlier this month, as part of which surprise inspections will be conducted in thousands of nurseries.
