Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov affirmed that his country continues to cooperate with Iran despite US threats against Russia and China regarding the consequences of this cooperation.
Sputnik news agency quoted Ryabkov as saying today: "There are no threats that have actually been heard from Washington ... in the usual American way ... that Russia and China should think about the consequences that will change our position."
"This will not affect our cooperation with Iran, and the United States cannot lead us on every occasion, and we are exclusively guided by our own interests as we understand them in various fields, and we are guided by our obligations and international law," Ryabkov added.
On the other hand, Ryabkov stressed that the United States does not have legal or political reasons to talk about re-imposing UN Security Council sanctions against Iran, and said: “After the withdrawal of the United States from the JCPOA, I completely lost any rights under this document and therefore they have no legal reasons or Political use of the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 against Iran, and this is absurd.
Ryabkov stressed that it is regrettable that the UN Security Council is plunged into a very serious crisis as a result of Washington's "irresponsible" actions.
